Holy Week is a week of celebrating the greatest and most horrific events in the history of the world. We celebrate the conquering of death so we can be reunited in relationship with the king of the universe. But now it's Monday; what's next?

Living your passion is quite the cliche and has been for some time; it is used flippantly as something to be grasped while on a Saturday morning trip to Starbucks. It is simple, identify your passion and do that. Unfortunately, I do not believe it is that easy or even the best idea to pursue. Here are a few of my thoughts on "living your passion".
1) Passion is not a job, a career or a title; what you do with your life will not make you happy, joyful or passionate. If you are miserable or apathetic , changing your setting will do nothing but change who you share your misery with. 2) Most people know what they are passionate about; follow people on Facebook, tweeter or instafacechat for a few minutes and you will think passions change as fast as the door opening and closing at the magical Starbucks were passion is found. Passion, to most, seems to be an elusive thing you chase and never find. 3) People are lazy; well maybe not, but most people are not willing to sacrifice the time, energy, sleep or relationships it takes to do something amazing and therefore settle for boring and safe. 4) Passion seekers do not have realistic expectations about time lines, amount of sacrifice, who's going to help them, etc. Well if that is not it than what is... 1) Passion seems to be about love; another buzz phrase is "do what you love"; love happens to be a verb. That means love is an action not an emotion. We often use thoughts like "find what you love and do that" - good luck finding an action. Or does it take action to find your love? <-- that is just a thought to ponder. If love is action and action a choice than love is a choice. Choose to love what you do l- and life will begin to change. 2) Focus on becoming instead of doing - love and passion often look more like understanding who we were created to be than what we were created to do. Focus on understanding who God created you to be and then work toward becoming that. When you do, your life will start to be characterized by passion, love and joy. I spend a lot of time processing leadership; a lot of time. As I mentor and teach leaders I often think about the one thing that makes a leader great. If we look at all the great leaders we can think of – what is the one thing that they all possess? It’s not relationships – some of the best leaders out there struggle to deal with people. It’s not education – a lot of leaders are below average students. There are a lot of attributes leaders can have but there is one thing that all great leaders have and all good leaders possess to some degree. It’s hustle. The ability to just make it happen; no matter what happens, what obstacles come up, who gets in the way the goal is achieved. They will literally sell their soul (well not literally – maybe figuratively) to get it done. Put in a tough situation great leaders possess a characteristic or a set of characteristics that just know how to figure it out. Great leaders always win.
