Life is lived in one of two ways - transactional or transformational. It seems very simple but as I explain, it makes sense. We either view our lives as a series of transactions or a as a continuous transformation of our selves, those closest to us and our sphere of influence.
When I walk into Starbucks and approach the individual behind the counter I have two options as to how I view that person; first is to view them transactionally. When I do this I view their role and impact to the world as a provider of coffee; now, as important as that role is I am viewing him or her as the person taking my money and giving me coffee. In the same manner my Starbucks barista can view me in the same manner. But they don't, because they work at Starbucks and that's not how they work.
The other option is to view them transformationally - they have a life, a mind, a soul and emotions. This changes how I approach the register, how I interact and how I treat them. I can choose to make in impact in my 4 minute interaction or it can simply be a barter of cash for coffee.
How does this tie to running, world vision and clean water. I chose to run and have for most of my life; I have the option to run because I like it. Or I can chose to be transformational in running.
Clean water is such a simple thing having immense impact. Lack of clean water produces, skin disease, gut disease, etc and most leading to death. Giving someone clean water who does not have access to it is life saving and transformational. It moves people from survival to the ability to think about things like their future and their souls.
I run to impact souls and transform lives.
